Ending Summer in Wildwood Posted by Laura on September 7, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hello friends,
Growing up, my family and I always visited the Jersey Shore and many different parts, including Wildwood. 6 years ago, I rediscovered these parts. I think the reason my family, friends, and I love this particular area is because not only can you hear the excitement of the boardwalk but you can also feel the serenity of the beach. It’s an area that’s not pretentious but very low key. I am so at peace in Wildwood that I can go out and wear less makeup on my face, and friends from all over still recognize me. It feels so natural in Wildwood that it truly brings out the fun side in me. I even found myself going on some rides with Daniel!
Below are some photos from my recent stay in Wildwood:
The Jersey Shore, especially Wildwood, will always be a place that I hold dear to my heart. Family, friends, and good times … what a way to end the Summer!
The Story of Spackle Posted by Laura on August 24, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hello GGs,
Many of you are fans of my Spackle Under Makeup Primer, but do you know where the name “Spackle” came from? I am often asked by both friends and colleagues how the name of this product came to be. Today I’ve decided to share that story with you.
As we all know, Spackle is a product used before you paint; it is also a tongue-and-cheek expression many women use. I’m sure many of us out there have said in some form or another, “gotta apply some spackle on my face”. Many years ago, I had the privilege of being the makeup artist of a well-known anchorwoman. As I would start to prep her face, she would always tell me "I sure hope you have more than makeup in your kit, I hope you have Spackle". After hearing that expression for so long I knew I needed to create a product that did not exist in the market place. The anchorwoman's remark inspired me to create a product called “Spackle” that would help smooth the skin and fill in fine lines. My team and I went right to work to construct this product.
What’s also funny about the creation of my Spackle Under Makeup Primer is that when we decided to create “Spackle”, a painting company already trademarked the name but was happy to allow us to use it! It brings me such pride to know I created a whole franchise in the cosmetic industry, and that so many of you can now benefit, from Spackle!

Fresh and Fabulous on the Fourth! Posted by Laura on June 29, 2010, 12:00 AM
Happy Fourth of July GG's!
As we all know, holidays tend to correlate with traveling. While we all love a weekend away, the actual "traveling" itself is not always so glamorous. Many of you have asked me how to keep your look fresh while on the go, especially during long plane rides. Here are some of my tips for staying fabulous, even at 35,000 feet in the sky:
∙ Airplanes and altitude can wreck havoc on your skin. Be sure to apply plenty of moisturizer before you board the plane. My Barely There Tinted Moisturizer is perfect for soothing and conditioning your skin while evening out imperfections.
∙ After you make your way through customs, purchase a large bottle of water for the plane ride. This will help keep your skin hydrated and radiant! Also, wear comfortable clothes on the plane so you can relax and maybe even take a nap. Try to arrive at your destination well rested to avoid under eye circles, which are sure signs of exhaustion. Don't forget to pack a pair of cozy socks and a warm wrap—airplanes tend to be quite chilly!
∙ When I’m about to exit a plane, I make sure to touch up any imperfections with a concealer wand, such as my Creaseless Concealer. Dab a bit under your eyes to cover any circles and reduce any shine with some of my Shimmer Down. A bit of blush or bronzer to add some color to your cheeks, and voilà, you're ready to go!

Happy Father's Day Posted by Laura on June 17, 2010, 12:00 AM

Summer Makeup Posted by Laura on June 15, 2010, 12:00 AM
Summer is almost here GG’s! And as the hot weather approaches, I know many of you are looking for ways to make your makeup last longer. Whether you are vacationing, at the gym or hanging by the pool, here are some suggestions!
My first rule is to prep your face with my Spackle Makeup Under Makeup Primer. Not only is it loaded with anti-oxidants, but also it will help your makeup last for hours!
In terms of smudge-proofing your makeup, my favorites are my Brow Marker and I-Care Eyeliner Pencil. My Brow Marker dries quickly and lasts all day. It will not run and you can easily remove it with soap and water. Just remember to use it on bare skin. The water-resistant formula in my I-Care Eyeliner Waterproof Pencil will have you dipping and diving in the pool in no time.
Sunscreen is a must, GG's! Protecting your face and body is so important. I find that foundation in the summer can look and feel heavy on the face, so I would recommend my Barely There Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20. It has coverage and SPF in one!
One thing that you should always protect is your lips. We often forget that they can get sunburned as well. First, exfoliate your lips with Lip Strip to take away any dry skin. Then gloss and protect your lips with an SPF Lip Gloss, such as my Mini Shine & Shield Trio.
I hope these tips are helpful for you. I try to live by them throughout the year!
I would love to see some of your summer beauty photos, so if you want to share them, please post on my Facebook wall. I can't wait to see!
Meet the Masters Event Posted by Laura on June 10, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hello girlfriends!
I had so much fun last night at the Meet the Masters event at my NYC Studio. I can’t thank Barbara Hannah Grufferman (whose book “The Best of Everything After 50 was a huge hit), and Dermatologist Dr. Doris Day (who spent the evening with us even though it was her birthday) enough for joining the fun and helping to plan such a spectacular night! There were makeovers, book signings, lots of bubbly and fabulous raffle prizes!
Thank you to everyone who attended! It was great spending the evening with you and I hope to see you again soon. Oh! And I couldn’t have done this without the help of my LG team – you always keep me on my toes!

Tips for the Blushing Bride Posted by Laura on June 8, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hello Friends!
Wedding season is in full effect, and it always warms my heart when a blushing bride wants a member of the Laura Geller team to do her makeup for her special day. It is such a honor to be with the bride, and her family and friends during this momentous occasion, and I always love being a part of each woman’s wedding history. I take such pride in my work and it warms my heart to know that I (or we) have had a hand in making a Bride’s day special. In fact, a lot of the reason I am where I am today is because of the wedding makeup I did early in my career.
I am always asked for quick and easy tips for one’s wedding day, so I thought I would document a few of them here. And these tips aren’t just for brides!
- Take care of beauty treatments, such as facials and waxing at least 2 weeks before the wedding. These can temporarily irritate the skin so please give your skin time to recover.
- Skin that “glows” is soft and complimentary to the camera, so experiment with a dewy complexion, but remember, dewy doesn’t equal oily.
- Waterproof mascara is a must! You never know who’s speech will bring you in tears. Waterproof eyeliner helps, too!
- Use a lipstick sealer to ensure that your lipstick lasts for hours. You can also apply loose powder on top for even better results.
- Let a friend or relative be responsible for holding your makeup essentials and making sure you are touched up periodically during the reception. Chances are, you probably won’t remember to check your own makeup throughout the night.
Follow these tips and you are certain to have a goof-proof night!
Speaking of goof-proof, tonight from 5 - 8PM I will be holding my “Meet the Masters” with Dermatologist, Dr. Doris Day and Barbara Hannah Grufferman, Author of New Book "The Best of Everything After 50." Stop by – I would love to meet you!
There’s a lot of fun going on and I hope you will join us!
Celebrate a Milestone Looking Beautiful Posted by Laura on June 1, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hi from my green room at QVC!
Many of you have participated in my “Celebrate a Milestone Looking Beautiful” contest and I must say, the beauty tips that you have shared were wonderful. It was amazing to see how many of you had tips that were passed down from generation to generation. It was incredibly hard to choose the top three (since you are all winners in my book), and I spent the entire weekend reading them over and over again. The 3 tips that touched my heart the most were:
"Apply a white liner to your waterline. It really makes your eyes pop and brightens the whites of your eyes."
-Joeli B.
"I like to keep my Primer (Spackle) in the fridge: it's a nice cool treat. Plus, it minimizes your pores! Try!!"
-Wanda S.
"Take the tip of your mascara wand and use that on the outer corner of your lashes after an initial coat. It really makes those lashes longer and opens up your eyes."
-Eva L.
On a separate note, I always love to meet new Geller Girls at my New York Studio, and am excited to report that we have two upcoming events in early June.
On June 8th, I will be holding a “Meet the Masters” event starting at 5pm. Come meet me, along with Dermatologist Extraordinaire, Dr. Doris Day and Author of the new book “The Best of Everything After 50,” Barbara Hannah Grufferman. We’ll sip on some delicious cocktails and speak about all things beauty! We will also hold a fun raffle where one lucky winner will receive a gift valued at more than $1,300. For those who want to attend, please RSVP at info@laurageller.com or visit our Facebook page!
On June 10th, my international makeup artist, Johnny Ottavino and I will host a night of cocktails and questions. We would love to meet you and give you the answers that you need to go from “how to wow!” Please RSVP at info@laurageller.com!
I have one more show tonight on QVC at 8PM EST but the fun doesn’t stop there! Click here for a list of all of my remaining show times!
Adding to my LG Family Posted by Laura on May 25, 2010, 12:00 AM

Achieving a Sun Kissed Glow without the Sun! Posted by Laura on May 17, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hello GG’s,
I have just returned from the WWD Beauty CEO Summit in Palm Beach, Florida, and as you can see from the picture above, the weather was simply gorgeous. This made me think about all of you, and what a shame it is that some of us have to go all the way to another state or country to receive that beautiful sun-kissed glow. Well, not anymore, Geller girls! I have found a way for each and every one of you to have your own sun-kissed glow!
Start with my Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer in Bronze. It has the same benefits as my revolutionary Spackle, but now adds shimmer with a sheer bronze tint! And don’t worry if you’re fair – this works on everyone!
Then apply my Barely There Tinted Moisturizer. Not only is this tinted to help achieve that sun-kissed glow, but it also contains a SPF of 20 and we all know that during these warm months, one will need much protection against UVA/UVB rays. It is lightweight but will still give you coverage! You can wear this alone or with my Bronze-N-Brighten.
Follow with my Baked Body Frosting. Why? Because it adds a sexy little shimmer to your arms, legs, shoulders, back, décolleté, and even to the nape of your neck.
Now you are ready to go with a glow that makes it look like you just arrived from the Caribbean! Enjoy gals!
Mother's Day Posted by Laura on May 10, 2010, 12:00 AM
Dear Friends,
As many of you know, Mother’s Day was this past Sunday. I must say, I feel so very fortunate to still have my mother in my life, and to also be a mother myself. As I write this, I remember a moment I had with Daniel last week while taking him to school. He asked me, “Mom, did you always know you wanted a child?” I told him, “Yes,” to which he replied, “At what age did you know?” I answered, “I knew I wanted to have a child since I was 12 years old.” His questions didn’t stop there, but it was at that moment that I realized how lucky I am to have Daniel in my life. For the last 10 years, my life seems to have more of a purpose. Having Daniel was the best gift I could have ever given myself. The unconditional love one receives from her child is irreplaceable, just as the unconditional love we receive from our mothers.
Every day, I make sure to talk with my Mom. Our conversations are priceless, and ever since the loss of my Father, I know to never take our talks and time together for granted. My Mother is the only person who still cares about everything that is happening in my life, even if it is as simple as going shopping. I can remember being 15-years-old, and having my Mom sit at the edge of my bed as we both listened to each other’s stories. It is a tradition that I have still kept alive with Daniel as I put him to bed (and also because that seems to be the time when he is the most talkative).
I also wanted to take the time out to thank everyone who took part in my Beautiful Like Mom contest on Facebook. Your stories were extremely touching and I will forever keep them in my heart. Picking the top three entries was extremely difficult, so I wanted to make sure I let you all know that each and every one of you is a winner!
In-Store Mini Makeover Event Posted by Laura on May 6, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hi Friends!
Many of you braved the heat and humidity this past Saturday to stop by the NYC Studio for Mini-Makeovers, champagne and snacks - and what a blast we all had! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed spending time with all of you, hearing your stores and getting to know you. We had some Makeover event veterans, first-timers and even very dedicated husbands and fathers who wanted to see what all of the buzz was about! Check out the video below for some fun footage from the day. I am so looking forward to the next event!
This past Saturday, I had a long but empowering day on the Q. Not only did I present my new Soft Touched Air Whipped Bronzer and Lash Spackle but I also surprised many of you with my latest TSV (Today’s Special Value) called “On The Bright Side.” From reading your questions and comments on my Facebook and Twitter pages, I noticed that many of you wanted the tools to achieve a look that gives your face just a bit of a glow. That is why I created “On the Bright Side.” This kit will give you those tools, and will help “wake up” your look just in time for Spring.
I especially want to thank everyone who called in with questions and comments when I was on air. You always give me such great feedback on my products! My team and I work very hard to bring you products that will help make your makeup routine just a little bit easier while also improving the look and feel of your skin. And of course, thank you to everyone who tuned in over the weekend!
For those of you who couldn’t get through while I was on air, and would still like to comment and ask questions, head over to my Facebook fanpage and post away!
QVC Beauty Bash Posted by Laura on April 21, 2010, 12:00 AM

Real Beauty Posted by Laura on April 15, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hi everyone,
I am often asked how to make sparse eyebrows look more natural. My solution would be my Brow Marker Long Lasting Brow Color. It is an innovative, soft, flexible-tipped brow marker that helps brows look lush and natural. This long-lasting formula goes on easily, dries quickly, lasts all day, and is easily removed with soap and water. Apply directly to clean, makeup and moisturizer-free skin in short strokes. Brow Marker can also be used to "color in" stray gray hairs in the brow.
When you are done using your Brow Marker, make sure to store it with the cap on, facing down, so the product flows evenly through the brush and on to the brows.
Spring Treat Posted by Laura on April 6, 2010, 12:00 AM
Hi friends,
Spring is here. And while you’re lightening up your wardrobe, lighten up your Spring “look” as well. Here are my top 5 essentials that will help you achieve your fresh Spring face for 2010. Take a “look” below:
My Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer – use my Spackle alone all over your face for a radiant complexion, or wear under foundation to increase the longevity and durability of your makeup.
My Sugared Baked Pearl Eye shadow – using an eye shadow brush, sweep over your Sugared Baked Pearl Eye shadow and stroke it over your entire eyelid. It also makes for a great highlighter for under the brown bone!
